Celiac Disease
The celiac disease is a disease that affects the small intestine of the body. In this disease immunological reaction occurs in the layer that lines the inner part of the small intestine. This allergic reaction is due the proteins which are contained in wheat oats, barley and rye. This results in occurrence of inflammation causing inflammation of small intestine lining. The complication of the disease arises when there is reduced absorption of nutrients in the food we eat because of the disease. This disease exhibits few or in some cases no symptoms in the affected persons. This article mainly concentrates on the causes of the celiac disease.

Occurrence of the celiac disease
The prevalence of this disease is high in the European countries. The countries which record high number of celiac disease cases are Italy, Finland, Ireland, Austria and Sweden. Medical survey in Northern Ireland shows that there is one celiac affected person in every 300 persons. In Finland one in every 100 individual is suffering from this disease. North America also shows considerable amount of celiac cases. Recent reports indicate that this disease is rising in terms of its incidence in U.S.
